We are
situated to you directly on the
Lago Maggiore, in calm and pleasant surroundings
with a magnificent view of the Borromeo Island, and the
Alps in the distance.
Baveno is
a small village of roman origin that associates a territory
of lakeside and mountainous backdrop, embellished by beautiful architecture and nineteenth-century villas.
The monumental complex
of the monestry church, in the town centre, includes the
baptistery, with its original octagonal structure dates back to the
Paleochristian age (5th century); renaissance frescoes inside. The
church dedicated to Saint Gervaso and Saint Protaso, still bears intact
the original 12th century facade, square of partially plastered stone.
Since the early 19th century, it has been a well-known tourist resort,
as shown by the beautiful villa Henfrey (now Branca), where Queen
Victoria stayed, and Villa Fedora, which belonged to the composer
Umberto Giordano.
The quarrying of the precious pink granite, still
carried out today, reached its peak in the early 20th century. Some of
the most important monuments in the world have been made of this stone.
Some 3 Km from Baveno, we find Feriolo, a beautiful resort and
a natural bay; which once was stone cutter's and fishing village.
From our hotel it is
possible to take
walks on foot,
excursion
by car and
excursion
on the lake, towards
neighbouring localities of remarkable landscaped, cultural and historical
interests.
